Musical Bunnies Grand Champions

The Home of Champions
We did not think that we would ever have enough Grand Champions to be able to dedicate a whole page to them. We now have so many that the home page is becoming very long. We are going to take this opportunity to not only display the winnings but also tell you a little bit about each one of these wonderful champions.

Grand Champion Musical Bunnies Lace: Broken Smoke Pearl Mini Lop Sr Doe DOB: March 24, 2007

Lace has the personality of a movie star. We knew that she was going to be a good one at the age of four weeks. Her Mother is Musical Bunnies Smokey and her Father is Coffey's Black Jack. Some rabbits you have to struggle to keep in show condition. Lace is not one of these. She keeps herself brilliantly clean and she is a smaller Doe, so weight has never been an issue. We were fearful after a staggering Jr career, with 13 GC Legs, if she would ever get that 1 Sr leg. She gave us an early Christmas Present with her Best Opposite of Breed leg in Columbia, SC on December 1, 2007. We are looking forward to her providing beautiful babies in the second stage of her career. She probably will not be showing anymore.

Grand Champion Boilermaker's Jessica: Solid Chestnut

Jessica is the first rabbit we purchased from Don Peterson of Boilermaker's Rabbittry. We only had Dilutes  in our barn and we decided to add a Chestnut.  Jessica has a great body and she is a very good mother. She has had 2 litters now.  3 days after her first litter was weened she won Best Opposite Sex of Breed. She loves to show! Her show career is winding down but she will be ready to go if we call on her.

Grand Champion Boilermaker's JK (Black Steel Silver Tipped) Sr Buck

If Lace is a movie star then JK is a Superstar! The only thing he hasn't done is win Best in Show. JK has the best overall balance in a Mini Lop I have ever seen. JK is a small Buck that barely breaks 5 1/2 pounds. Our goal is to get his balance in a larger Rabbit. Look for his children Jaco (buck) and Rafiki (doe) on this page in the near future. JK has 5 Best of Breed wins!

Grand Champion Boilermaker's Moondance Black Steel Silver Tipped Sr Buck

Moondance has been living in the shadow of JK for a while now but has still managed to become a GC. We really like his body type and you can see that from the upcoming breedings. Moondance weighs 6 pounds and has a massive head. His first babies arrived on March 8, 2008 so we will see how they turn out. Expect big things from Moondance as JK's career winds down.

Grand Champion Musical Bunnies Fast Albert Broken Lilac Chinchilla

Fast Albert is a character! He is the carrier of the Musical Bunnies bloodline. He has the ability to steal your heart with his enthusiasm and beauty. Albert is 100% mommas Boy.. He is not fond  of long road trips unless he has a window seat.  We try to accommodate him whenever possible because he will thump his cage the whole trip if he doesn't. This is not good on a ten hour trip. Albert has blossomed after he hit the one year mark. I tell young breeders all the time that if you believe in a rabbits body type, stick with them and let them mature. Albert has babies in the nest box right now and boy do they look good.

Grand Champion Musical Bunnies Gypsy: Blue Tort (Lace's Sister)

Talking about growing up in the shadow of a sibling, Gypsy epitomizes it. Our original plans for Gypsy was to be a brood Doe. If you have never had a solid dilute, it takes a very long time to develop. When it finally does you can have something special. We did not even know what color she was until she was a Sr. When her Blue Tort finally came in we decided to show her. She won 3 GC Legs in 4 shows. That is probably the highest winning percentage of any rabbit we have. Gypsy has a very laid back personality and she is always aiming to please. Gypsy is a Mom now! We breed her to Moondance to try a get some beautiful Blue Steels. As of now it looks to be a successful choice.
